Oaxaca-7To add onto the gaudy golden amazingness of this cathedral, the roof details were delightfully tacky. It looks like my abuelita came in and decorated the place. I love you Mexico!

Oaxaca-6Oh Mexico and how amazingly gaudy your religious decorations can be. This was by far the most gold I had seen in quite some time and I was impressed. The gold created this warm glow throughout the cathedral that only something of this golden magnitude could accomplish. :P

Oaxaca-4While I am not by any means a religious person I found this cathedral to be one of the most calming religious spots on our trip. A golden light spills in through the windows. I’ve never seen anything like it.

My love affair with cathedrals was solidified in Mexico. The color and life found around the church grounds (especially around Semana Santa) is lively and phenomenal.
