Nevermore… in Tulum, Mexico

Tulum-6Couldn’t help but catch this massive raven/grackle thingy hanging out on top of the roof of the ruins. With how gloomy and overcast it was that day it was a bit creepy.

Tulum-5

This little area was roped off since they do get the occasional turtle wanting to nest their eggs in the ruins. Seriously though, what a place to be brought into the world!

Tulum-4

I never really thought the ocean could be that blue. I always thought people over did it on Photoshop and the whole shebang… boy was I proven wrong. Tulum is still one of my favorite beaches in the world.

Tulum-3Whoever was living in this little hut overlooking the ocean was a lucky lucky SOB for sure. There aren’t many ruins like this. Can you imagine what it would be like to come across something like this? MAGICAL!

Iguana Hibiscus Buffet in Tulum, Mexico

Tulum-1I think we saw more iguanas at the Tulum ruins than in the entirety of Mexico. It was insane! That and they will come to you when you hold a hibiscus flower out for a tasty snack.

VID00008I am still a firm believer that Mexico has some of the most stunning beaches in the world. I never in my imagination thought that the water was actually that BLUE. Take a walk up and down the beach – you will be surprised with little findings just like this one.

PalenqueRuins-12

To get to this part of the Palenque Ruins you have to go somewhat off the trail. When we arrived, shafts of light were shining between the trees, highlighting the building like some long lost treasure. FREAKING AWESOME.

PalenqueRuins-5As I’ve said with previous posts, the warm light that falls on the ruins is mindblowing. I just kept asking myself, “Is this REAL?”.

Discovering the Palenque Ruins

PalenqueRuins-2One of the things I really like about this set of ruins in particular is the fact they let you get up close and personal with discovering them. You are allowed to climb most of the buildings and touch parts of history. Get it while it’s hot before someone “ruins” the experience for you.
